In all cases they are given what it takes to make them be heard at our community level and management levels as well. They are fairly represented in issues that affect them and there is close self-organisation of them which is intended to protect their interests and to appreciate and demand their rights as far as their service delivery is concerned.

Jointly we have led initiatives against police harassment, visibilisation campaigns, and social cartography encounters using a Participatory Action Research (PAR) frame that seeks to empower sex workers.

Representing the experiences and realities of marginalised and vulnerable men who have sex with men and male sex workers, our organisation is a sex worker led CBO with an all membership base of sex workers. The organisation is recognised by FHI as one of the premier sex worker CBOs working on male and transgender sex workers. The organisation is a federation of local self groups of sex workers through a democratic process.

In CAMEF sex workers work as both full and part-time staff, we also have volunteers that work as peer educators in the sex workers community where they carry out sensitisation activities on sexual health and prevention of STI. Our sex worker colleagues sensitise the diverse LGBT sex work community.

How are sex workers involved in your organisation?: 
Peer Education is involved in reproductive health issues with special emphasis on HIV/ STI linkage to treatment and care, HTC, cervical cancer screening, family planning and infection prevention. It is also involved with para-legal issues such as gender based violence {GBV} sensitization, advocacy for the right to access medical care and reduction of illegal arrests by both police and city askaries and with educating sex workers on human rights. We also promote the use of condoms and distribute them to fellow sex workers.
