WONETHA is a sex work led organisation which strongly believes in empowerment of sex workers by actively involving them from problem identification, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of all programme activities. These programmes include: Research and development, sexual and reproductive services, networking and advocacy, capacity building, outreach and documentation among others.

Sex workers take an active part in the decision-making process of Pembe Hatyat (Pink Life) Board Members and volunteers including staff members all include sex workers. Four of the seven board members are active sex workers and 85% of all the organisation members are active sex workers.

Making Sex Work Safer currently has 71 active sex workers as members who are actively involved in HIV/AIDS activities, advocacy for rights, stigma reduction activities among others, with all members involvement in activities. The member’s are also involved in electing the leaders of the organisation and adherence exercises that involves MSM and CSW infected with HIV/AIDS and TB.

Sex workers have a lead role in all aspects of SWAG including policy discussions, decision making, strategic planning, peer support and community education.
