Guidelines for posting an event to the NSWP website

  1. We would like to hear about events which are of interest to sex workers. About sex work. Organized by sex workers. Welcoming to sex workers. We especially want events where sex workers participate but we are open to your suggestions.

These events can be serious or social, outdoor/indoor, fund-raisers, free events, lectures, art shows, conferences, live performance, panel discussions, workshops, book-signings. If you are planning a picket march or a press conference, let us know. Some examples? Recent events have included: a fund-raiser for a sex workers' union, a panel discussion hosted by a museum, a reading at a bookstore, an AIDS convention, a symposium on transgender issues, a human rights conference.

Please visit www.nswp.org and click on "Events" to see the current listings.
  2. How to list your event: Send us email at least 14 days before the event. (If your event is less than 14 days away, please put URGENT in the subject line.) Send email to events@nswp.org with the date, time, location, name and description of your event. Who is sponsoring the event? If a sex worker group, please tell us! Indicate admission fee. Tell us if it is a FREE event. We will need to include a contact email address, website or phone number in our listing. A URL we can link to is helpful.
  3. Please send plain email text. Please, NO file attachments.
  4. Contact info: Please include a contact name, email address, website address. Where possible, include a phone number for verification, in case we need to call you.
  5. If you announce an event to nswp-list@nswp.org, please cc: events@nswp.org. PLEASE do not assume that the Events editor is reading nswp-list at all times. You will reach more people by getting your event on the website as well.
  6. If you see an event on this list, please forward the post to events@nswp.org.
  7. How this works: After receiving your email, the Events Editor will turn it into an event listing which will be sent to the Webmaster. He will be responsible for posting material to the site. The Events Editor will be responsible for gathering information and editing. This is why we prefer to have at least 14 days notice. We will need time to fact-check and proofread.
  8. Feedback, information, suggestions — please send to events@nswp.org.

We look forward to posting your next event on the NSWP website.
