How are sex workers involved in your organisation?:
Sex workers are actively involved in work of Association PROI. Primary, sex workers are enaged in outreach work as outreach workers and gatekeepers. Representatives of self-initiative sex workers group Meretrix are involved on consultancy base in the development of project and program aimed to them.
Which of NSWP priority areas does your organisation work on?:
Advocate for universal access to health services, including primary health care, HIV and sexual and reproductive health services
Speak out about violence against sex workers, including violence from police, institutions, clients, and intimate partners, while challenging the myth that sex work is inherently gender-based violence
Challenge stigma and discrimination against sex workers, their families and partners, and others involved in sex work
What are the two main challenges that the sex workers you work with face:
Main challenge for sex workers Association PROI works with is actively and comprehensive combating the violence they experienced from clients, pimps, intimate partners and police. On the other hand, sex workers in Bosnia and Herzegovina are absolutely hidden population which deals with deep social stigma, intolerance and patriarchal system. In this case challenging for this population is to speak out about their own rights.
