Call for Articles: Research for Sex Work No. 10 Sex Workers' Rights MovementThe NSWP's annual publication Research for Sex Work seeks contributors for its next issue. This will be the 10th issue of Research for Sex Work and the theme of the next issue is the sex workers' rights movement. Research for Sex Work welcomes three types of articles: 1) research results, 2) project or programme descriptions and 3) analyses/overview articles. Research for Sex Work aims to provide a platform for the exchange of ideas, experiences, observations and research results with regards to sex work and HIV prevention in the broader framework of health and human rights. Although the title suggests otherwise, Research for Sex Work is not an academic journal. Readers and authors are from sex worker (support) organisations, HIV prevention projects, local and international NGOs, universities, research institutes, etc. Building on the knowledge and experiences of people involved in HIV prevention and development for sex workers, the journal tries to explore a chosen topic in each edition. Previous editions were on peer education (1), appropriate health services (2), empowerment (3), violence (4), migration/mobility (5), human rights (6), ethics in health care and research (7), sex work and law enforcement (8), and money (9). All previous issues are available to download from http://www.researchforsexwork.org and http://nswp.org/r4sw. Here are some suggestions of topics that could be covered:
These are just some suggestions. Other ideas for articles that would fit in the broad theme of sex workers' rights are welcome. If you would like to contribute, please send a message about your work and the topic of your article to the chief editor, Melissa Ditmore, at r4sw at nomadcode dot org as soon as possible. You may also contact her if you need additional information. You do not need to be fluent in English, because we will edit all articles. If you are more fluent in Chinese, Hindi or French, you can also submit your article in one of these languages. Please don't hesitate to share your experiences with a world-wide audience! Deadline for all submissions is February 15, 2007; the maximum number of words is 1,200. |
