Voicing Community Interests in the Global Fund: A Guideline for the Involvement of People Living with HIV in Global Fund’s CCM

The Global Network of People Living with HIV (GNP+), in collaboration with the Asia Pacific Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS (APN+), has published a how-to guide that aims to strengthen active community engagement within the Country Coordinating Mechanisms (CCMs) of the Global Fund.

Briefing Paper: Sex Workers’ Access to Comprehensive Sexual and Reproductive Health Services

Globally sex workers experience a number of barriers to comprehensive sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services, ranging from explicit exclusion from international financing to discrimination within SRH services leading to lower access rates.

This paper discusses the obstacles sex workers face when accessing SRH services, and examines the quality of services available to them. It also provides practical examples and recommendations for improving the accessibility and acceptability of SRH services for sex workers.

Sex worker organisations raise concerns over HIV criminalisation case

Sex workers and sex worker rights’ organisations have strongly criticised the verdict and handling of the case of CJ Palmer, a trans woman and former sex worker who was convinced of grievous bodily harm in January 2018. CJ was convicted on the charge, after four hours of deliberation, in relation to her ex-partner testing positive for HIV, and has been remanded in a men’s prison awaiting sentencing on 16th February. She has already spent 9 months in the same men’s prison awaiting trial.

GNP+ Survey 2018

The Global Network of People Living with HIV (GNP+) has launched a global survey to inform their strategic planning 2018-2022. They are keen to hear from people living with HIV around the world to learn more about the situation in different countries, including issues relating to treatment access, stock outs, discrimination in health settings, and arrests - including for carrying condoms, distributing syringes, or having sex while HIV positive.
