Organisers of HIV2020 Issue Recommendations to IAS Ahead of Virtual Conferences

The organisers of HIV2020 Online, of which NSWP is a member, published a set of ten recommendations aimed at the International AIDS Society (IAS), which has been criticised for its decision to bring this year’s International AIDS Conference to the United States of America (U.S.). Though both conferences will now take place online due to the COVID-19 pandemic, advocates argue that the decision reflects weak community engagement.

HIV2020: NSWP joins international alliance to organise alternative community-led conference in 2020

An alliance of key population-led networks, networks of people living with HIV, treatment activists, and supporters has formed to organise an international community-led HIV conference in 2020, following the decision to host the 2020 International AIDS Conference in the USA.

Report: Sex Workers at the 22nd International AIDS Conference

Between 23rd and 27th July 2018, more than 120 sex workers from more than 25 countries attended the 22nd International AIDS Conference (AIDS2018) in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The bi-annual International AIDS Conferences are the largest global gathering of HIV academics, implementers, policy makers, people living with HIV and those most affected by HIV, including sex workers.
