On 23rd of September, 2019 the United Nations General Assembly held a High-Level Meeting (HLM) on Universal Health Coverage (UHC). The theme of this meeting was “Universal Health Coverage: Moving Together to Build a Healthier World” and ostensibly aimed to accelerate progress towards UHC. INPUD have published this Technical Brief to support people advocating for the rights of people who use drugs in staying informed during this time of political momentum generated by the HLM, and the potential for country-level action towards realising universal health coverage. This Brief explains how UHC can be both an opportunity and a concern for the health and rights of people who use drugs.
