On International Sex Worker Rights Day (3rd March) sex workers across the world, including the African continent, came out in numbers to commemorate the day, and call for the recognition of sex workers’ human rights.

In South Africa, the Sex Workers’ Education and Advocacy Taskforce (SWEAT) and Sisonke – the national movement – took to the streets across the country (video) while calling for the decriminalisation of sex work.

They believe decriminalisation of sex work will go a long way towards ensuring their safety and their earnings.
