Adult Glam Divas

Who do you work with?

Adult Glam Divas (AGD) works with female, male, and transgender sex workers (SWs) to amplify the voices of SWs, advocate for their rights and well-being. AGD recognizes the importance of engaging with third parties involved in the sex work industry, clients, third parties, families, partners, and friends to improve working conditions and protect the rights of SWs.

How are sex workers involved in your organisation?

At Adult Glam Divas, sex workers are actively involved in shaping the organization's work. We have a platform they voice their concerns, advocate for their rights, and participate in decision-making processes. Sex workers' lived experiences and expertise are valued and inform the organization's programs and initiatives.

Which of NSWP priority areas does your organisation work on?
Oppose the criminalisation and other legal oppression of sex work and support its recognition as work
Critique the trafficking paradigm that conflates representations of sex work, migration, and mobility
Advocate for universal access to health services, including primary health care, HIV and sexual and reproductive health services
Speak out about violence against sex workers, including violence from police, institutions, clients, and intimate partners, while challenging the myth that sex work is inherently gender-based violence
Oppose human rights abuses, including coercive programming, mandatory testing, raids and forced rehabilitation
Challenge stigma and discrimination against sex workers, their families and partners, and others involved in sex work
Advocate for the economic empowerment and social inclusion of sex workers as sex workers
What are the two main challenges that the sex workers you work with face

1. Stigma and Discrimination- Sex workers often face social stigma and discrimination due to the nature of their work. This can result in marginalization, exclusion from essential services, and violations of their rights therefore overcoming societal prejudices and combating the negative stereotypes associated with sex work is a significant challenge.2. Violence and Exploitation- Sex workers are at a higher risk of experiencing violence, including physical and sexual assault, robbery, and harassment, also face exploitative working conditions. By ensuring the safety and protection of sex workers from violence and exploitation it remains a critical challenge that Adult Glam Divas seeks to address through advocacy and support programs

Describe other areas of your work

In addition to our work, AGD focuses on other areas such as economic empowerment through income generation activities and skills development, reducing new HIV infections among sex workers, preventing child marriages, promoting psychosocial well-being of adolescent girls and young women, and advocating for gender equality and drug and substance abuse.
