The decriminalisation of sex work in Belgium was approved by the Federal Parliament on March 18th 2022 and came into effect on 1st June 2022. However, under the new law it remained illegal for sex workers to work under an employment contract.

On Thursday 2nd May, Queensland Parliament passed laws to decriminalise sex work. The legislation will improve the rights and personal safety of sex workers and existing criminal offences relating to sex workers will be repealed. The historic legislation comes after decades of campaigning from Australian sex worker-led organisations including DecrimQLD and NSWP member organisation Respect Inc and Scarlet Alliance.
The Bill implements the findings of the Queensland Law Reform Commission (QLRC), which was commissioned to review the decriminalisation of the sex work industry.
